SIPS Water Quality Program
Saanich Inlet Protection Society (SIPS), in co-operation with Surfrider Foundation’s Blue Water Task Force, started testing water quality in Brentwood Bay in January 2026. The program is designed to detect potential sewage contamination by testing for bacteria. Sampling takes place monthly with some exceptions.Continue reading→
Senanus Island Glass Sponge Reefs
The Glass Sponge reefs we are focusing on are in the waters of Saanich Inlet near Senanus Island. Senanus island is part of the Tsartlip reserve, and encompasses sacred burial sites as well as being central to the ancestral history of the Tsartlip Nation.Continue reading→

Strength In Numbers
As with any advocacy group, the more members we have, the louder our voice. With the many challenges facing Vancouver Island, your help is unquestionably needed to preserve and protect the unique ecosystem that Saanich Inlet is.
Membership is cheap: $15/year for Individuals and $20/year for a Family Membership, and you help protect Saanich Inlet.
