Saanich Peninsula

We Need Your Input!

SPEC is the Saanich Peninsula Environmental Coalition. Members are representatives of many Peninsula environmental organizations including SIPS and aim  to "promote ecological stability and jurisdictional collaboration to help ensure environmental health of the Saanich Peninsula".

A work program has been created with Simon Fraser University which aims to use six indicators to assess the environmental effectiveness of the Official Community Plans (OCPs) for the three Peninsula municipalities. The indicators assessed are:

  • Green Infrastructure
  • Green Shorelines
  • Trees Canopy
  • Landscape Connectivity
  • Healthy Watersheds, and
  • Agriculture.

On March 7th, 2026 SPEC conducted a public meeting to report on their findings and to make recommendations to the three Peninsula local governments. The full report is attached. A survey is on line now and is open only until May 1. Please take the time to complete the survey at the address below. More information on SPEC is available through their PlaceSpeak page, address is below.

Check-Up! Survey 2 is now live on PlaceSpeak. When you have a moment, please take the survey and spread the word through your own avenues (newsletters, email blasts, social media, etc).
